Course Overview
A one-day (8-hour) foundational course covering safe rifle handling, zeroing, marksmanship fundamentals, and basic malfunction clearance with a semi-automatic carbine or rifle. Built for the first-time rifle shooter or anyone standardizing their fundamentals. Conducted on our outdoor range in Spruce Pine, AL (Franklin County).

KILO 1 SIX ARMS is an independent training provider. We are not certified, accredited, or affiliated with any law enforcement agency, military branch or unit, the Department of Justice, or the Department of War. This course does not confer any agency-specific certification.
What's Included
- 8 hours of hands-on instruction
- Use of the 125-yard outdoor range, foamboard target backers, and steel silhouette targets (100%/66%/33%)
- Choose "Ammunition Included" (approx. 150 rounds, common calibers) or "Bring Your Own Ammunition" at checkout
Required Gear
- Serviceable semi-automatic rifle/carbine in good working order
- Minimum 3 magazines
- Sighting system: iron sights or optic, zeroed prior to class (we can assist with zero at the start of class)
- Sling (single- or two-point)
- Eye protection (ANSI Z87.1 rated)
- Hearing protection (electronic muffs recommended, or muffs + plugs combined)
- Closed-toe, closed-heel footwear suited to uneven outdoor ground
- Body armor / ballistic helmet: optional, not required for this course
Prepare for the Environment
Our range is outdoor and uncovered — training happens rain or shine (weather permitting for safety). Pack for the conditions on your training day:
- Sunny/hot: hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, extra water
- Rainy/wet: rain jacket, waterproof footwear, dry change of clothes
- Snowy/icy/cold: insulated layers, gloves that allow trigger access, traction-appropriate footwear
